The Grenada Amateur Swimming Association is delighted to announce their 2010 CISC National Swim Team. The nine member Team and supporters leaves Grenada on the 25th June 2010, for Trinidad en route to Cuba for the Championships. This year for the first time, an open water swimming event, is included in the program and GASA was successful in having two male swimmers, qualify for this event at the recent Barbados 5km open water swim event.
The Swimmers are in high spirits and are very motivated, working very hard towards this upcoming meet, Coach Regis has intensified their training sessions and they are meeting this challenge, even though they are studying hard for their final term exams and CXC.
Our CARIFTA medalists Corey Ollivierre and Oreoluwa Cherebin are hoping to better their times and. to reach finals and improve on their stunning success from CARIFTA with better results in Cuba. Andrew Hopkin also CARIFTA finalist is aiming to medal and have personal best times in Cuba also. Veterans Esau Simpson and Ayesha Noel who will be representing Grenada, at the CAC games in Puerto Rico in July will be using CISC meet to prepare for the open championships. Chris Regis and Khalil John will be our first National Open Water Swimmers, as this is a new event. They did very well in Barbados, finishing under an hour and a half, so we expect a great showing by them.
GASA blesses the team and pray great success for them, and ask the nation to keep them in payers as they go to represent our nation proudly and fly our flag high.
We say a big thank you those who have come forwards and supported the team – coaches, parents, friends of swimming and Sponsors.
